Just brought PS2 - PS1 backup question - PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,

Is it possible to play PS1 backups on PS2 without mod-chip??

Is there a Utopia (DC) like disk available for booting??

Many Thanks, Paul.

Nope Not possible you need a Neo2 chip or as i use a USB MOD chip for PS1 backups some of the First Ps2`s the ones that have a boot disk with them can use a swap trick for Ps2 copys but not sure on Ps1 copys i dont think that it will work you have to have the Modchip for Ps1 copys
these are available from this Website
####://www.modchip.com

General wisdom on this forum is to use a modchip rather than a USB game enhancer. Reason is that the modchip gets to the parts that need modding whereas the USB version, being stand off the motherboard, is said to miss a trick or two. My modchip is from modchip.com (the 8 wire version) and works perfectly using a swap trick for both PS1 and PS2 backups. PS1 backup requires an original PS1 game to boot then swap in the backup you want to play. PS2 backup play requires (in my case for the first modchip version a Jap Boot Disk or any Jap original PS2 game) in the present modchip version Game Shark 2 (US) or Action Replay 2 (PAL) for the boot stage. That should sort you out.
