proper cd burning speeds?

I have a Plextox 16/10/40a and I have burned serveral games using both diskjuggler and nero at 16x but others dont play properly when burnt at that speed and the music window shows up so I have to go back and burn the cd again at 1x and then it usually works.
Does anybody know how to tell or where to find out the best burn speed for a certain game? And why do some only work when burnt at 1x. Thanks for any help.

For me when burning I've found the slower the better!! Increasing the buffer size helps so you can increase the speed, if you haven't maxed out the ram in your computer this also helps.

4x/8x is about a round-about speed for good burns and don't use cheap CDs. Also make sure to have the latest firmware to that Plextor burner, Plextor is pretty bad about releasing a drive and then a month later releasing all the firmware patches to fix stuff.
