Does the utopia boot cd mess up your dreamcast
I heard that the utopia boot cd makes it so your dreamcast can only play copied games and wont play the regular games and regular import games. Has this happened to any of you?
Thanks Albert |

For the love of God! Think, for a minute, Mechazilla98...
DC copies and the Utopia boot disc are nothing more than normal CDs, as opposed to the GD-ROMs that the Dreamcast usually plays. The Dreamcast is also designed to play AUDIO cds, correct?? These are regular CDs and they are read exactly the same way as the Utopia CD and DC copies. If reading DC copies and Utopia would cause problems, don't you think reading a lot of audio CDs would also cause problems? If it doesn't, because the DC was designed to play them, the it stands to reason the DC copies and boot disc would cause no more damage than Audio CDs. Short answer: NO! |

Well, my DC is f#cked after only 8 months playing with CD-R's... but everybody on this forum thinks they are mechanics and know everything of lasers/lenses, so I won't argue with them. But I think it's very strange that my laser has burnt out, while i didn't do anything wrong with my DC (except for playing backups). A friend of mine also had to let his laser fixed after 1 year of playing with CD-R's... But hey, CD-R's are just the same as audio cd's, so make your own discision.
