newbie here needs help.

I just bought a dreamcast about a week ago and I got a couple of games. I burned them successfully but when I put it in my dreamcast, the cd audio screen shows up. The game is self bootable(DOA2). I used Disk Juggler v 3.0. I also tried burning the Utopia Boot disk, but the same thing happens. I used Nero for this. I have a USA Dreamcast. Is it not working because of my Dreamcast?

Another newbie here:

I've had similar problems on some files. Were the files you burned .CDI files? If so, did you use DiscJuggler (I'd imagine "YES").

If they were .BIN/.CUE files, did you use CDRWin? FireBurner?

.BIN/.CUE images aren't self-boot games. If you get any .BIN/.CUE games (usually by Kalisto and the file segments end in .001, .002, etc), I'd suggest using either BIN2BOOT to create a bootable .CDI image (50-70% success rate), or use BIN2ISO or BIN2RAW to create an .ISO file, burn it to a CDRW (if available) so you can extract the files (or use ISOBUSTER). Once you have the files on your hard drive, use Echelon's self-boot tutorial to make a bootable. Be sure you have all utilities on your machine that you'll need, and use CDRECORD rather than CDRWIN to burn the resulting .ISO to the disc.

I've had BIN2BOOT give me an error (on CrazyTaxi) but worked on one or two other .BIN files, resulting in usable .CDI files that produced a bootable disc with DiscJuggler. On CrazyTaxi, since BIN2BOOT errored out, I used BIN2ISO and burned the ISO to a disc, copied the files from the disc to my hard drive and made a self-boot using Echelon and CDRECORD.

Good luck.

Yeah, DOA2 was a .CDI file and I used DiscJuggler but it still doesn't work. It shows the audio screen.

If you stick the disc in your CDROM drive, do you see files or does it show up blank?

If you don't see any files on the disc, it's a bad image, a bad burn, or both. Since you're you using DiscJuggler 3.0, which is the same as I'm using, I'd have to say it's probably a bad image or possibly DJ 2.0 format. You might try running the DJ 2-3 conversion on the .CDI file.

FYI, I have a copy of WackyRacers that does exactly what you said - it's a CDI that doesn't work - I get the CD-Audio controls. I can't see any files on that disc when using a CDROM drive though... Either it's a different format (i.e., DiscJuggler 2.0) or it is a bad image.

I've tried it with Discjuggler 2 and 3, both of them don't work. I tried using a different brand of CD, still shows the audio screen. Tried 80 min cds.. tried 74 min cds. They still don't work. I've left the settings at default, then tried some different settings and they still don't work. I'm out of ideas, someone plz help.

Thx to all those who helped, but i found the problem. The problem was that my Dreamcast was manufactured 12/2000. All Dreamcasts that are manufactured after 10/2000 cannot play backups. So I exchanged it for one that was manufactured 6/2000 and now everything works fine.
