If u read the other threads you'll see that the currently only way 2 make a backup work is to burn an image of your original 2 DVD ond mount into an USB-device while using Starforce nightmare. If nothin' workz u should contact tho store where u bought the game.

Its a bit OT
But I have to know... Why should we call you god LoedD? @tekxoid That is very strange, seems the update has kinda now hates your drive. I would get in contact with the publisher (they are the ones that place the protections on the games) and if no joy there, get a refund from them as it is their fault that your game isnt working. And dont take the "You can always play by the retail version and not install the patch" cause thats not what you bought the game for, your expected to have good support and you should get it. |

The demo was so cool...I'm dying to play this game, but not only can you warez people not play it, I paid and I still can't play it. I'll just hold on to it until either Ubi releases a patch that makes the irritating protection back the **** off of people who actually buy the game or use a NoCD, whatever century it gets released...

The game runs beautifully at 12x10 with all in-game settings maxed out. Now, all I need is a no-cd.

I have to say that I've tried my Chaos Theory backup DVD and USB Drive on more than 15 computers at work. Before I formatted and Re-Installed Windows on these machine (I'm an Administrator, and a nasty Virus was playing havoc with the machines), I installed Chaos Theory on all of them. This is not to play on you understand, but to test the functionality of the USB trick. All these computers have different hardware, but are quite powerful. Using my backup and USB housing, I was able to install and play on 13 machines. The two it wouldn't run on were due to incompatible hardware, however the DVD check screen was passed, and these would have played also had they had better VGA cards installed. Also, the backups were created on 3 different DVD Re-Writers.
I'll go further and say I've yet to find a machine the backup won't work properly on. Going on these findings, I would say that problems playing from a backup must be due to one of these reasons. 1.A bad DVD image, or to be more specific, a bad MDS image, possibly due to a poor Re-Writer. However my images were created on Pioneer 109D, and other cheaper drives. 2.An illegal copy of the game. Of course I'm not pointing any fingers, but I've had several E-Mails requesting a DVD-KEY. It goes without saying that my image (MDF and MDS) was created from an original DVD. 3.Out of date Alcohol120 or Daemon tools (obvious, but you never know) 4.Possible conflict with IDE channel, even though STARF***ER or SF_NIGHTMARE are installed. Always disconnect your IDE drives physically if your backup won't work, to be sure it's not this. 5.Finally, it's possible that the USB adaptor itself could be the problem. I'm not rolling in money, so I'm not going to go and buy several housings just to try this, but for your information, my working housing is a Venus DS Model No.2512B2, costing £20 (UK) Last edited by t.foster73; 24-04-2005 at 16:16. |

I got the EU version of the game(patched to 1.02) and it works perfectly with the usb dvdrom.I use SFN to disable all the ide dvdroms, use the ide2usb dongle for my external dvdrom and enable the RMPS emulation in Alcohol. They are only 2 serials for these game(EU and US version) that currently on the net and both works with each respective version. The only way to play the game with backup for now is definately by using usb external dvdrom and SFN.

WHY THE HECK do u have to enable emulation in D-Tools, if playing the game form an external DVD-Drive? that sounds a bit crazy to me though d-tools doesn't have anything to do with my external drive does it? thx

Daemon Tools emulation also works for external/internal (real drives, not virtual) drives...

ive never tried but maybe this is another method how to make thingz workin:
If you got 2 PC (or a laptop or something), then you need a link cable (its an active cable, that makes possible to connect 2 PC via USB, with it). So maybe its possible to do the same like in the USB2.0 DVD case, but this time with a network drive via usb2.0. As i said ive never tried this method, but im intrested if its workin, cuz a cable like this is not so expensive like an USB2 device. btw. im also intrested if anybody tried to make the game workin with a normal lan drive. |
