Segagen/Smash Pack Problem - Page 2

OK guys this thread is finally over,this is what i did (it works):

1.Download Segagen,Lemecs loader and Echelon Kit utils

2.Get some Genesis aka MegaDrive roms.In order to work in segagen they must be *.bin,US versions and have names with less than 28 characters.There are tools to convert to bin and US.

3.cdrecord doesnt work here,so i used cdrwin.You have to binhack exactly as Thoblen said:
Ginreset.bin
Manifest.bin
Mde_us.bin
1st_read.bin

CDRWin gives me 11700,so used that value in binhack and mkisofs.

Ip.bin = read only for all binhacks BUT 1st_read.bin (again,THX Thoblen)

4.There is no 4,well,burn and enjoy

I cant believe it was so easy (damn,ive been pretty stoopid) and i cant believe no one told me before... Almost 200 ppl have seen this thread so far...

Now time to test all my roms so i can make the ultimate segagen pack and share it somewhere.

THX go to all of the forum guys who helped (specially Thobled,you gave me all the tips i needed),Echelon,Lemec and of course SEGA,authors of Genesis,Dreamcast and the original Sega Smash Pack (Echelon guys cracked it in order to make their launcher)

I used the files, that Sega Smash Pack (hacked version within 100games) contains, and IP.bin from Echelon's "Sega Smash Pack Rom-Loader" (e-smshpck.zip)
I found it with google.com after long time of searching... Don't know the site, it's a few month ago, sorry.

I've done everything you said, only i binhacked the required bins to 11702 and it didnt work. ip.bin was read only for everything except 1st_read.bin

Enuff you said cdrecord doesnt work there, what did you mean by that?

Does it only work binhacked to 11700?

The LBA has to fit to the 1 Track (Audio-Dummy) at your CD.
If you use cdrecord for the 1 Track, LBA is almost 11702, CDR-Win users should get a 11700 LBA. (I didn't get it to work with CDR-Win, but I prefer cdrecord anyway). You only have to hack all BINs to the same LBA.
Of course you have to set the ISO (mkisofs) to the same LBA like the BINs.

I think i did everything right yet it still doesnt work
Here is in detail what i've done:

First i extracted the echelon's smash pack loader then i've overwritten the original 1st_read.bin, ip.bin, manifest.bin and the two pvr files hakei.pvr and option.pvr (New Lemec Loader Files)

i binhacked 1st_read.bin to 11702
i made the ip.bin read only, binhacked ginreset.bin, mde_us.bin, manifest.bin to 11702

*I used 11702 coz thats the number msinfo gives me (cdrecord) after i've burned the audio.raw

After i've added only 2 US *.bin roms, that had no spaces...
I made the Iso file
mkisofs -C 0,11702 -V Segagen -l -o data.iso cd_root

then i used ipins.exe to insert ip.bin

i burned it but it didnt work

If you see anything that i've done wrong can you plz let me know

I'm sure i have all the necessary files:

manifest.bin

[Roms Folder]
moji01.prv

and the two roms were Sonic3.bin and Wonderboy3.bin

Hack the other bins first with ORIGINAL ip.bin as read only.

The last file you have to binhack is 1st_read.bin,and you will create a new ip.bin.Use it in ipins.exe on the iso and the nightmare is over

Personally i wasted 14 cds with this baby...

Oh and make sure you are using the selfbootable version of lemecs loader (mine = obs-lmsb.zip).Good luck!

Oh i almost forgot,infinity...when i said "cdrecord doesnt work here" i meant that i cant burn cds using it with my recorder,so i have to use cdrwin (which gives me lba = 11700 for a cd with audio.raw in the first session).

A cool bit:

If you are a PAL user (i am) you can patch the mkisofs segagen iso with any palpatcher and have a 60hz full screen menu

Well I've got mine self booting now, and its great...although I'm having problems running Road Rash1-3...but i've got a question...

Is there a way to bring up the menu that you see when the game is loaded (the one that says start game ect...) during the game? Is there a way to quit the game w/o restarting your DC?

Plus does anyone know a good mode/skip/audio combination to get the best performance out of Road Rash?
