CD copy protections

I went to a thread and found a link on how to copy protect your cd's
It contained this link HERE

All I want to know is if this is applied to a Data CD is it possible to just extract the data from the protected CD to your hard disk. Cos I am producing some small scale software and do not want this to happen!!!
