Messiah V5 Not Reading DVDR's

Can anyone help i have had a messiah V5
fitted but have not been able to play DVDR's.
also i have tried many types of disks cheap to expensive
but no joy is there something im not doing right ???
The machine runs cdr's with no probs at all and norm game and
film dvd's and have tried different ways to load the games ie
reset button x1 & X2 cold starts etc all hints and tips
will be greatfully recevied

Two possible casues (assuming your laser isn't shot and it shouldn't be) and you are sure that the DVD-R(s) work elsewhere

1 Clean the lens with a lens cleaning disk

2 Shorten your Messiah wires

The game i have on a Apple disk will not load at all
but one of the other games loads to a certain point then freezes
i will try the lens clean first.
you were also saying the wires could be too long why would this efferct this please explain

If wires are too long, then you can get the effect you are describinh. Erratic behaviour with DVD-Rs, for example. But you didn't answer the key question - do you know the DVD-R works elsewhere?

I know of an instance which displayed same symptoms. turned out to be dry joint on 3.3volt line to messiah
