I see where you're coming from, Megalexxx, but keep in mind that if the writer software ADJUSTS the files as they're going on the disc, so they fit REDBOOK format, they'll still take up just as much space on the disc as if you had converted them manually. I know Nero and Easy CD Creator both convert MP3s to "REDBOOK" audio as it burns, but as a result, a tiny handful of MP3 files can take up an entire disc (or more).

Yes, I know, but what I wanted to say is that you shouldn't take care about the bitrate, since it's adjusted to fit redbook format.
My english is so bad and I miss vocabulary, so I sometimes can't explain things the right way. Anyway, whatever your original file is, it will always be a CDDA file complying with redbook specs, with always the same format and bitrate and whatever. Daleandjess : a tutorial is a good idea. I think I'll put all I know somewhere so that it could help people. But I'm far too lazy.

Megalexxx, don't put yourself down for your usage of English. I believe you do very VERY well for someone whose native language is so different (French) than English. You are to be commended for your ability to communicate with all of us English-speaking people.

is it possible that the dummy file is called 00a_dat.dat?

Yes, it's REALLY possible.
It should be the very first file in your root directory. Try to open it with an hex editor and there should be always the same value in it. |

so if i delete that file,.. then i should bew able to fit all the good stuff (ie my own music) on there, because,. correct me if i'm wrong,.. the only thing that the dummy fiule does is pushes the actual game out to the edge of the disc so that it runs smoother right?

what if it's a ADX format? I tried converting mp3 -> wav -> adx using 44.1 16 bit stereo but it doesn't work.

Daleandjess : you're right
Piccahoe : it should work if you kept EXACTLY the same audio format and the same name for your file... |

thanks again,.. my only problem right now really is my own laziness,.. i just want a simple wav editing program,..i don't want to take the time to learn one. and,.. can anyone confirm or deny,.. someone suggested that i use nero wav editor,.. they said that it reduces the file size drastically,.. and yet,.. keeps the khz? the same. can anybody suggest a really simple wav program?
