Max Payne

I recently stepped on my Max Payne CD cracking the damn thing in two. I have used no cd cracks on games before just so I don't have to swap cd's all the time but I never did with max payne for some reason. Anyway I downloaded an .ace file from GCW and it says to swap it out with the MaxPayne.exe file. This doesn't seem to work. Do I need another program or did I just download the wrong file?
