YAMAHA 2200ez and CDR-Media

ok, i have "PNY CD-R media" from Best Buy, and my writing always starts at 20x, but ends up at 8x. is there a specific media that i have to buy. From reading the box, i notice that yamaha 2200ez has "optimum write control technology", so it changes the write speed to suit the media. what CD-R media do you use to record at 20x, or have you been able to record at 20x. is this a downfall of this writer, or am i using the wrong media ?????

The Yammie tries to do it intelligently and the 2200 is too new to tell yet whether or not it can burn convincingly at high speed. But the media has to be branded with the 20x speed on the box for that to work.

The technical issue is the amount of time that the 'bit' being burned is exposed to the laser. The laser has to be strong at high speed and thus the media has to be good. Take care.

The 2200ez appears to be very sensitive to media. I have tried PNY (16x),
Pny Gold (24x) Memorex (12x) and Imation (16x). Imation have been the only ones that will burn over 8X . a little dissapointing. i started to switch to the TDK Velo-CD
a sales rep at best buy says hers burns several brands of Media, with out any trouble. i feel bad, because i have a 20x burner that only seems to wanna burn at 8x.
