Modchips? Burning Games?

MODCHIPS? BURNING GAMES?
I want to buy Playstation2 and im researching the modchips, im not having luck,, i dont understand what i need to duplicate games..

I want to make copys of games that i will be buying and from friends. how do i do this and what do i need.. modchips? or just a burning program?

1. You will need a mod chip in order to boot your backed up games. These can be external usb mods, internal no-solder mods, or internal solder mods. The internal solder mods vvary also, from the crappy neo2/neo4 chips to the daddy of them all the messiah.

2. Legally you are allowed to back up original games that you personally own.

3. PS2 games come either as cd format or dvd format. The cd's are typically around 650mbs in size. The dvd's can be anything up to 4.7 gigs in size.

4. Tutorials on exactly what burning software/methods you should use can be found at www.psxcopyworld.co.uk

5. You will need either a dvd-writer to copy dvd/cd games or a cd-writer to copy cd only. Best choice is to go for a dvd writer - Pioneer A03/A04.

Hope this is a useful start to you. These forums have loads of useful information, the search function is ideal for beginners/newbies as you will 99% of the time find the answer you are looking for.

PSX_PAUL has given you GREAT info...... Also as he mentioned the MESSIAH is the chip you want (don't waste time and money messing with all the other chips out... MESSIAH direct boots EVERYTHING with no swap) Contact Charlie_PS2 or DUST2DUST, they can set you up with the Messiah....... As far as a DVD burner most everyone here uses the Pioneer A03 (A04 is newer version although some people are still working out minor problems with it). One last thing, use high quality media(apple, verbatim, etc). Hope this helps!!!!

ok if i understand this right. the messiah is the best modchip to get, now i dont have a dvd burner i only have a "hp cdrw' and i have a sony cdrw. now once i have the messiah will i be able to burn my own games ONLY if they are in cd format 'not dvd' format, right? and is the process just burning cd as i do for my music cd's. easy to do ?

also since i dont own a dvd burner are there alot of games out there that are in cd format, i just dont want to buy the modchip if there are just a handful of games in the cd format?

buy the way how much are the dvd burners now-days? and how much is the Messiah, and is there a reliable website that you would recommend me get the messiah at.

I wanted to know if i have a dvdrip or cdrip of a game can i play it on my ps2 Without any type of modechip. or do i need to chip to boot the games?

YOU NEED A MOD CHIP!!!!! Like what was said earlier, stay away from everything........ BUY A MESSIAH!!!! You'll be glad you did....
