v4 Neo2.2 is inhernetly capable of booting DVD-Rs by the method specified at www.psxcopyworld.co.uk.
So, have you tried it? What made the installer say there could be a problem?

sony have stopped Datel from selling AR2/GS2
that will boot dvd-r. Datel have changed their boot disks. It does not matter what chip or PS2 version u have. If your AR2/GS2 boot cd is v2.03 v2.1 v 2.11 v2.12 or anything higher it will not boot DVD-r no matter what u do! on all new AR2/GS2s Your PS2 screen will freeze whan you insert the DVD-r. too many codes updating codes dummy code it don't matter, it won't work go out buy a Messiah |

Great. It's Messiah time!
By the way, I'd bet that AR2 will continue booting DVD-Rs with the single step on Origachip.
