As I am very new to the backup world can any1 please tell me what a multimode CD is and how I go about creating one to backup a game CD??

Try www.google.com it's a 'search' engine a strange concept to you it appears. You obviously haven't even made the slightest effort to find anything out for yourself ! If you expect help you could at least show that you've made some sort of an attempt to figure things out for yourself.
