Is there a working Xbox emulator yet?? I had the fake one, but I thought maybe someone had created an actual emulator.
Thanks |

....No need to be rude. Just because the first one was a fake, doesn't mean it's not possible to make one.

It is rather unlikely that somebody will create a working xbox-emulator at the moment. The hardware-specs to run the emu have to be very high. NOBODY has a machine which can do that.
Btw, do you know how long it took to get a GOOD working version of bleem! or bleemcast ? There isn't even a ps2-emulator around allthough the ps2 is already 2-3 years old. Someday there will be emus for xbox but I guess you have to be patient.

Don't dismiss XBOX emulation so quickly.
Afterall unlike the PSX the XBOX hardware is already closely based on a PC.
The nForce chipset is very similar to the XBOX hardware and I expect a motherboard with the nForce 415 chipset and a Geforce 3 or 4 graphics card would offer a system close to the XBOX on a hardware level. I expect the main problem would be that the XBOX uses a processor based on intel hardware and the nForce motherboards are compatible with AMD processors. I would not be surprised if someone is already working on this the question is just weather an emulator would run under Windows or possibly from a boot cd taking direct control of the PC's hardware. |

Monty you are off on your post. P-III 733 is not so high up by today's standards and it may not be so steep of programing to emulate Xbox. The graphics are not that hot, if you ask me. P-4 or AMD 2 gig+ system easy to find or build. P-4 and 533 bus speeds now available. Get down with your bad self dog...

So, you do really think that the cpu-speed of the machine you want to emulate can be simply transferred onto a pc?
Interesting..... I know what is available today and I own it, but I doubt it will be enough. Maybe tomorrow everything is different.

Xbox emulator yet???
Can you explain further why you believe it is so difficult a task to emulate the Xbox. I understand it is merly speculation at this point and I do not mean disrespect to you but What is it about the system you feel it is so hard to emulate. It seems most other systems are emulated where the CPU speed is half of the today's normal.

This has to be one of the funniest threads i've read in a long time.
First, the ps2 processor runs at 294.912 MHz Can you really imagine a p2 300 running final fantasy 10? me neither. (Therefore the processor speed is not everything.) secondly an xbox emulator will not be out for a damn long time yet. Fair enough, the innards are similar to that of a pc but that doesn't mean that a programmer can rip out a program that fast. Xbox programs are slowly being created (Thanks to the enigma and messia) so within time there is a chance but even my 1700 xp, 512 meg, geforce 4 couldn't do project gotham justice while havin to run an operating system in the background as well! |

I don't believe that a X-Box will be as difficult to make as emulators for other consoles. I mean the spec of an X-BOX are PC based and similar equiptment ius use. Remember when the XBOX was first being devolped, the games were shown on actual PC's anyway using the same spec hardware. Also if they are going to make games that work on both PC and XBOX systems using the same copy then the programming language must be the same. Am I wrong?

Hi all,
To all who think that cause Xbox is based PC hardware, it's easy to create emulator, I would ask them why isn't there many games on linux ? isn't it same hardware configuration ? )If you wanna reply explaining about DirectX, and OS restrictions, please don't. No need. |

Technically IT is the easiest of the next gen consoles (And by that I mean Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube) Due to its singular processor the only huge differance is the fact that the X-Box doesn't read .dll files so wrappers need to be wrote - Believe it or not an X-Box emu is probably only as difficult as a Saturn Emu. So still a major task but not a total impossibility
