When I insert a backup into my Ricoh player, I often get a strange error/message.

Goes something like this: "Please remove and re-insert the CD, close the application and then restart."

The funny part is, is that this usually happens with SD2 protected games (which are supposed to work when played in the Ricoh 7083A burner). But in several occations (Operation Flashpoint and Ghost Recon, offhand), I can actually play the game in my crapy Creative 52X CD-ROM drive (but not the Ricoh).

Anyone know what this is? It appears to know that I've installed the game from my Ricoh (Install path in the registary shows the correct drive), but it doesn't seem to be able to play it.

Any help? Thanks.

PS: Most recent game I got that message in was FIFA 2002 World Cup (another SD2 game).

It is because newer games have an ATIP check.

All CD-R's have an ATIP which contain info on dye colour, length, manufacturer etc. Pressed (original) cd's don't have an ATIP.
Only mainly cd-writers can read ATIP - normal CD-ROM's can't read it. The game checks to see if there is an ATIP present, if so then it doesn't let you play.

You can play the game in a cd-writer if you enable Hide CD-R Media in the Clone CD Tray whilst playing

Cool, so I enable that option in Clone CD when I burn the disc (not when I read it)?

Thanks.

No u cant burn 'Hide CD-R Media' its an option after a piece of software has been copied. Check your CloneCD icon in your system tray by right clicking it and then enable Hide CD-R Media.
