What DVD/RW or DVD/R drive to use for copying PS2 games?

I am looking at getting a DVD/RW drive. My question is what type to I need to copy PS2 games? Can I get one that is a DVD/RW drive that has DVR/R and CD/RW capabilites? Can anyone recommend a particular one to me? Sorry for all the newbie ?s.

Make sure it copies onto DVD-R Media. PS2 doesn't like DVD-RW very much and it definately doesn't like DVD+R.

Most people on this forum use the Pioneer A-03 or A-04.

You will need Nero or Prassi PrimoDVD to make back-ups.

ok, so a DVD/RW with DVD-R capabilities or do I have to have a strictly DVD-R drive? Thanks for the quick response

A DVD/RW drive is fine providing it writes to DVD-R media.

PS2 is also fussy about type of media used. Don't use cheap unbranded DVD-R, I recommend using Verbatim as it records at 2X speed and is totally reliable.

Cool, one last question, is verbatium a program?

Verbatim is a brand of DVD-R.

The spec of the writer you are interested seems to be a Pioneer A-03 or A-04, if so everybody on these forums uses them.

yea, I just figured out that verbatium makes cds, what a dumb ?. anyway, those specs are for the Pioneer 104
