Question Wow - I really need some help from the masters

I just got a V4 solderless modchip for my PS2, and I am ready to backup my games. Here's what I am working with: a host of Ps2 patchers and whatnot, Nero and CDRWIN, the CD burner that came with my Dell (worked great with PS1 and my music cd's).

#1 What is the process? I've heard all about patching and swapping and rearranging the disc. Do I really need to do all of this stuff for my modchip, or can't I just directly copy my games?

#2 What about my EA games? Do I have to do something special with them? Some guys are saying us ea hex editor, some guys are saying I need to use this universal patcher once I extract the.img file, and a hundred other things.

#3 How can I tell the difference if a game is DVD or CDR compatible? A DVD burner is a little beyond my means at the current junction in time, so I'll probably try the ripping method (although I've heard about 50 differentways to do this).

I'm just looking for straight answers, to what seems like basic questions. Please help.

Charlie's Answer: You can directly copy your CD games with CloneCD provided that your reader/burner is full compatible DAO-RAW+96. Check this out on www.elby.de

Charlie's Answer: CloneCD avoids the need to patch anything including EA games.

Charlie's Answer: Originals have the word DVD or CD on the top. Backups can bemore difficult. A DVD is more likely to be silver - but the acid test is when the CD reader finds an illegal track when trying to read a DVD.

I'm just looking for straight answers, to what seems like basic questions. Please help.

Smile Nero?

I have a copy of Nero Burning Rom. Would that work in the same way as CloneCd, even for the EA games?

Always use Clone cd for best results. Clone cd is the best for psx lybctypt copy protection.. (most common in ps2 games)
I havent tried version 4.. but 3.. which i use is super!!(I also suggest a plextor cd-r).
Finally blind write is better in my oppinion for safedisc and laser lock.
Correct me if i am wrong...

CloneCd appears to be .... everything you would want then. Does it work in the same fashion for DVD-R's though? Or does that require a completely seperate process altogether?

Also, I am using the CD-RW drive that came with my DELL .... should that be compatible with CLoneCD so I can just directly burn these bad boys?

DVD-Rs are burnet with Nero or PrimoDVD on a DVD-R burner. Not with CloneCD.

As for the DELL OEM CD-RW, get the Device properties from Windows Device Manager and use the underlying OEM name in the Supported Writers table from www.elby.de. Yo are looking for DAO-RAW+96.

Hi,

DELL put in LG cdroms and Burners, i have the 8080 Burner in my DELL pc at work and it works with CLONE CD with no problems, so im sure you wont have a problem either, although i think they are stocking 24x or even 32x speed burners in there pcs now.

remember if you download a crack for FULL access to CLONE CD you will just burn coasters, so make the most of the 30 day trial at full speed and then purchase an unlock key, its well worth it and it does not cost that much.

Been using CLONE CD for a couple of years now and its never let me down.

Cheers

Dal

Why do cracks of cloneCD only burn coasters? That seems like some crazy protection to me. Would something like a KeyGen work on it? Not that I would ever use anything like that of course .... hrm.
