Configuration for IDE--spinoff previous post--

I tried hooking up my dvd-rom drive and my cd-rw drive to the same IDE port. When I burned from disk to disk using Nero Burner I got a message saying that this might mess up the transfer. Has anyone ever had a problem with this hook up. The reason I did this is because a tech told me it would make my harddrive run faster. Any help would be great!

BOT is on a distinguished road
Hard drives are 32 bit devices, if you add a cdrom to an ide port that already has a hardrive you are fitting a 16 bit device to that cable.
This results in that port working at the speed of the slowest device, eg, 16 bit transfer.
You are an idiot if you attempt disc to disc, but then you should know that already.
