GTA3 Probs

I borght GTA3 and copied it on a freecom burner. I used CloneyXXL setings and it said that the copy protection is SafeDisk ab 2.51. It copied but when I try to play it doesn't work. I thought it was my burner but then i backed up my The Sims disk fine?? Does any one know why it will not copy???
Thanks
Blade

I think the Sims - if it's the original Sims you are talking about - is Safedisk1.

Safedisk 2 requires correct EFM coding. I'm guessing your drive cannot do this because of your results. But you should try using AWS, and also enable Hide CD-R Media in the Clone CD Tray.

If that doesn't work then you can download a crack from GCW.

I think ClonyXXL settings already amplifyed weak sectors for me as I used their settings. Will a new Lite-On burn a perfect copy? I am getting one soon????

Why? Does ClonyXXL not automatically do this??? Interestingly it does work when Daemon Tools is enabled with safedisk emulation.

Hide CD-R Media is not something you tick during burning - so Clony can't tick it for you.

It is located in the Clone CD Tray - you enable it when you want to play the game from your burner to hide the ATIP of the CD-R.

PS Is the Clone CD tray at the bottom right of the screen?

how do i change the data1.hdr file contained within the gta3 install cd? i was able to edit the dat1.cab file with i6comp but im afraid im not experienced enough to know every aspect of what im doing, im still in the learning stages... any suggestions or advice about how to change the file so that it will install? im not interested in the no-cd crack. my hard drive isnt that big so i prefer to just install the game. yes im lazy, i cant be bothered with changing the gta3.exe file with the fixed version, i want the cd to do it for me on install.

help would be much appreciated...

It will have to be ticked every time on every PC (if you play it in a burner).

Explanation: All CD-R's contain something called an ATIP which contains info on length, manufacturer, dye colour. Pressed (original cd's) don't have this. So the newer games check for an ATIP and if it is present it won't let you play.
The snag for this protection for the developers is that only mainly cd-writers can read ATIP's - most CD-ROM's can't read so it can't check for it.

You can play the game in a CD-ROM or play with Hide CD-R Media ticked in a burner.

Yes the Clone CD Tray is on the bottom right of your screen
