Plextor is old school
it used to be the best burner which is why it is always listed on sites as "the best burner" or what ever other claim. phillips and phillips based drives ie Acer have correct emf encoding which allows them to burn sd2. Although often a cdrom/dvd reader is required to dump a cd image as phillips drives can only read in RAW mode. I think if it comes down to it, if a acer/phillips drive cant do the job, then no burner (aleast that currently exists) can!!!!
