DVD diode

My playstation wont play properly made DVD-R backups. Everything else is fine. Would adjusting the laser make any difference? I had to do the same thing on my PS1 a while back. Is the tutorial on MegaGames.com a good one to go by? I really don't want to have to buy a new playstation or a new laser unit.

Also the tutorial on www.infofree.org.

My advice is not to reduce the DVD pot resistance by more than 10% or you'll burn the laser diode out (it's no larger than a grain of sand and sensitive to current changes).

Eventually you will have to replece the laser unit.
