ntsc on pal with ar2+ns4 no good?
Hey
When i try to boot Virtua Fighter 4 (usa release) on my PAL PS2 with no solder bootchip (v4) and AR2 it just freezes. Will that combination not allow me to play NTSC games? I can't find any PAL patch to try out. Thanks for any help! |

Addressing your actual question, any PS2 will play PAL or NTSC games if you can introduce then properly.
So your PAL PS2 will play NTSC games provided that you boot correctly via a game that causes the region checks to be passed ok. So you have to be sure of the validity of your backup game and of your boot method.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
The game itself is Vf4, miracle release - unpacks without any errors. I used CDRwin to burn with (.bin/.cue) on a 80min verbatim media as the .nfo suggested. I boot up with AR2 and choose Start game > without codes .. and bang! freezing time. So where the problem is.. well, I've seen Chronic released a PAL version of this game, and I've read in the AR2 manual it won't allow import games to be played and neither will my chip as I understand it (it's not a neo4, it's a no-solder "shit" chip) but do you happen to know any other pages besides this one with ntsc->pal patches or have any suggestion? Thanks. PS. yes I read isonews.com... |

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the no solder chips don't play CD backups > than fit on a standard PS2 disk (around 632 MB).

I've read something about that too. Unpacked as a .bin file it is 570mb so for some reason I wonder about that issue too. Crap
