If I only wanted to play copied PS2 games and copied music what modchip would I need?

It doesn't work out that expensive in the long run. Depends on wether you play rips or full DVD-R copies. If DVD-r's then Messiah is best else neo will do.

Is Messiah really too expensive

it costs £80 for any other mod chip
(AR2 £30 + Devil May Cry £30 +modchip £20)=£80

and then a whole load of bu$@#ng around every time
u want to play a game!

You need the Messiah! It direct boots everything which means no f****** about every time you want to play a backup. Even if it is expensive, it's worth every penny and will pay for itself in no time at all!
