It runs incredibly slow for me too. 900Mhz Duron, Nvidia 32Mb TNT2, 384Mb RAM, XP Pro.

It's way too slow to play for me - my setup should be able to handle it - I'm gonna defragment soon to see if that helps.

im having problems with the game playing slowly too....dunno if its winxp pro causing the problem or maybe the 32 meg video card cant handle the pace.

as ghost says, it may be worth running a defrag and may be worth freeing up as much memory as possible by deleting anything thats taking up memory space such as temp internet files, unplayed games etc.

our systems here should be able to cope with this game but i still reckon a better spec video card maybe needed to run this one.

bloody computers !......lol

Ghosthacker,
Let me know if that helps at all. I read that same thing on their support page about defragging. That's the best thing they could come up with!?!?! That's lame. The recommended system requirements that they advertise on the game are rediculously low. And we all know they only do it to sell the game. They don't care how slow it runs after we've bought it. They should advertise that you need a mega computer that costs $5,000 as the recommended system requirements. God, I play games like Return to castle wolfenstein on this same PC without it ever slowing down. What kind of freakin engine did they use to create this game. It's really crappy if you ask me.

Oh Well...

Roy

I also tried this game on a PC with:
Athlon 800
192 MB RAM
Win 2K Pro
Elsa Erazor X (Geforce 256)

Still slow!
WTF Rockstar?

GLH is on a distinguished road
First time i started GTA3 it was also very very slow.
I've defrag my HD but that wasn't the solution.

After i installed the newest NVidia Detonator XP (Date: 09.MAR.2002) the game runs in full speed !!!

My GraphicCard is a ASUS V7700 Series with NVidia GForce2 GTS deluxe.

I upgraded my drivers to the most recent which is the one take2's support recommends.

That didn't change anything. I guess I need to go buy a GForce 2 or 3, eh?

For everyone who still isn't getting sound after replaceing the corrupt audio files. Try just clicking on the GTA3.exe instead of the b-loader. I think the b-loader just tells it their is no sound hardware so it doesn't check and find the corrupt audio files. Not sure though but it's worth a try.

I'm not having any slowdown (P4 1700, 512 MB PB 2100 RAM, GeoForce 3 ti 500) but can't for the life of me get the no-cd to work..the same old "insert disc 2error"

I've copied all the audio files and none are corrupt.

I'm using the myth no cd.

Guess I should get on with playing but I hate having to keep getting the disc out of the drawer. And to date I'v got No CDs for all my games that work fine (oh, ecept for Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe 1.5)

Guess I just don't want to admit defeat, so can anyone help ?

First try a recently released crack .exe . If that doesn't work then try the b-loader which I told everyone about a couple of posts ago. But you may not get sound with the b-loader.

Why is GTA 3 So slow

Most people with a fast system don'y know why the game is slow.
It's very easy.
Because there is a REPLAY function. So the game must remember
what you did.
That's why this game is very slow on a normal good system.
If there wasn't the replay function. Then you normaly could play it
on a 1Ghz,256MB-SDRAM with a GeForce 2 (no MX)(best Geforce
3/4 or Ati 8500 or higher like the 9000 and 9700).

And would somebody be sow friendly to just give a download link
of a working GTA3 crack, so noboby must ask to send the Crack to hem?

Thanks

HMMMM...

I remember when I installed GTA 3 before, I had no problems at all. I just copied the play cd to my hard drive, burned its contents with a file called nocdsetup.exe then installed, after that I ran nocdsetup.exe . I think I got the crack from megagames or gamefix. Just to let you know.
Oh yeah, the crack automatically copies the audio folder to the hard drive.
