Does Correct EFM encoding = perfect clone of SD2?

I been looking at acers as a solution to "backup" sd2 titles
ie b&w, hitman code 47, etc
my current burners do not encode efm correctly however sometimes the inperfect copy works but only ever in the drive that burnt it anyone got any idea whats going on?
