Do I need to worry about my PS2 version for the US Messiah?
Is installation for the US MEssiah the same for all PS2 versions? I am getting a PS2 when M arrives, should I try and get a specific version or everything goes?

You'll be buying a v5.x unless Sony change the model in the next week or so. A changed model will not have been tested with US Messiah.
So my advice is to ensure that your PS2 is a 3001R.
