questions

I want the messiah mod chip but I have a v5 ps2 would it work?
If not is there another no swap mod ship. And when is the new messiah coming out?

Also, What dvd burner to get. I'm considering the pioneer a04 or HP 100i. The pioneer writes on dvd-rw and dvd-r while the HP writes on dvd+rw and dvd+r. Which is better? and which would work with dvd movies to watch on a dvd player?

Yes.... The messiah will work on your V5... As far as the new messiah, it depends on which one youre talking about... If your talking about the US version, it is supposed to be out by the end of this month(next few days)... If your talking about the Messiah2 or any of the other names it has been called, your guess is as good as anyone elses... No set date has been determined as far as I know... Now on to the burner ?... Get the Pioneer A03 or the A04(for PS2 games).... Stay away from the HP....Although neither will copy a DVD movie 1:1 since most are over 9 gigs... You will have to RIP the movie part to get it to fit on a DVD-R... Also make sure your DVD will play DVD-R's because alot of them will not...... Hope this info helps.............
