New Mitsuimi Drive Review!
Just saw a review of the new Mitsuimi CR 4805 TE 8x writer.
The 4x writer came highly-rated at being to copy virtually anything; let's hope the 8x baby can do the same! http://www.tomshardware.com/storage/01q1/010330/index.html Thanks Tom for your hard work. All we need now is for someone with CloneCD to get their hands on one of these cheap but groovy devcies! ~~Waynia~~

So would this be a good drive for making backups of both PC and DC games? I'd also like to be able to burn cdi/bin/iso images too.

According to the CloneCD specs it is next to useless!
Best supported read is RAW-DAO 16 Whereas you NEED RAW-DAO 96 Best supported write is RAW Whereas you NEED RAW+96 |

are you reading the right one?
Mitsuimi CR-4805TE is RAW-DAO 96, RAW+96, and RAW+96..is that not the best you can get? I'm mainly interested in using this drive to backup DC games, burn DC images, and backup/burn PC games & images. |

My apologies.
Those specs are for the damn Mitsubishi CR4805TE (Atapi). Mitsumi is 100%. |

The Mitsumi is great for PSX copies. However there are a couple of things you should know.
Firstly, it cannot copy Safedisc 2. Second, the 4804 had problems with DiscJuggler, and needed patches, conversions to Nero and so on to get it to work. To be honest there are better drives around these days for the same money as the Mitsumi. I'd recommend the Teac 58e, an 8x writer which is a steal at around 80 UKP inc VAT, about the same as the Mitsumi and a much better writer. Of course it cannot do SD2 either, but you can't have everything....
