Fixing scratched/dirty cd-r? Resurfacing?
I've been ordering SVCD through the mail and receiving them in paper sleaves. Some of these cds have read related errors when I try to make a copy of them (and watch them). I can see lines on the cd from where the sleave is folded. I've wondered before about how to clean cds and whether or not a resurfacing machine would actually work. I don't want to take a chance of completely ruining my cd.
Most of the cds are 80min 24x Gigastorage, but I have a scratched beyond recognition playstation disc also. Optionally, anyone with an idea of how to repair the mpeg would help. I can't even copy them off the cd without an error. |

Gigastorage CD-R's have a high defect rate...that's all I have to say!!!
Not too sure about the resurfacing though, never used such a device. Maybe as a preventative thing, use plastic sleves or slim jewel cases when mailing CD's. Even if the cases break, the CD will remain in mint condition. FB |
