Cleaning CD Lens

I have a cd-r 48x Creative and i want to ask you what can i do to clean it. i've tried the usual cd cleaners but didn't worked. I think it's the dirt that have been causing problems, because the cd reads sometimes but others don't. I have XP and i don't mind if it's necessary to open it.

What liquid should i use?

Hi I use meths when ever i need to clean lens or video heads on a cotton wool bud.
