Heroes of Might and Magic 4 did not run on my Computer, although I posses the orginal CD. When I started the game, I only saw a loading picture from the game, then it crashed back to the desktop with no errormessage at all.
I tried almost everything for a solution. Finally I used partition magic and installed a new boot partition and Win98 SE again. The game worded fine until I installed Playbackup. In my opinion, safedisk2 detectes playbackup on the CD and refuses to run the game. Uninstalling playbackup does not work. I am really angry about that, becauce with the help of "Format c:" I had to install WIN98 again. Does anyone have compareable experiences with safedisk2? How can I get red of playbackup on my orginal partition? Thanks a frustrated user |

do a registry search for playbackup. regcleaner, perhaps? a lot of programs dont fully uninstall themselves, and then safedisc2 detects the remenants.

Macrovision always blacklist such programs as PlayBackup, Insektors, and Daemon Tools as they can emulate their protection. Then the authors of these programs update their programs to get round the blacklisting. It's an everlasting and childish circle and they constantly blacklist etc. I find it appauling that they will stop you playing your ORIGINAL games just because there is a certain program on your computer. After paying £30 plus for a game, then stop you from f**king playing it!!!!! I'm not sure on the legality of this - surely someone must take some action as some point.
Uninstalling Playbackup, Insektors, and Daemon Tools worked for me, but if it doesn't, do as pondunkiller suggests with the registry.

Read the thread below and get the URL for RegCleaner from there. Also, read other suggestions given in that thread, they might help.
