DVD-R(movie) Playback on the ps2???

I know that dvd-r games don't work on the ps2 unless you have a mod-chip but does this go for all dvd-r media like dvd-r movies?

The only reason that I ask is because my friend lent me the dvd-r of resident evil and it works,my ps2 ain't modded or anything I'm just happy to know bootleg dvds work on the ps2(well at least mine,i think)Time to make my dvd collection grow...

A DVD movie is not subject to the special checks built into PS2 original games.

Thanks alot charlie i was unsure about dvd-r movies,by the way what does the region selection do in the parental control do? it's in custom setup when you use a dvd movie.

If, for example, you believed that all US Region 1 movies were perfidious and unsuitable for you and your family, you could put them under parental control. I think!
