Just use a CD Cleaner (the CD with the brushes. That'll do the job uusally. If you have to use a cotton bud then it'll be because you have to do the undersie of the lens. Not usual.

Talking Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Charlie_ps2. I was hesistate in the 1st place as I read some articles saying that there is a risk to clean the lens with ordinary CD cleaner as this might knock/spoilt the lens (I do not know how this could happen though). What they recommended is to clean the lens with cotton buds. BTW, how long should I clean it as for periodical maintenance? Will this prolong the len's life span?

PS2 lens cleaning

I was just wondering if the traxdata dvd lens cleaner and test disc would work better than an ordinary cd lens cleaner?

The DVD lens cleaners are too 'clever' - they play a movie with instructions etc before tracking the head to the brushes. A bit daft if the lens is dirty and can't read the movie and get the block address - or something like that. You never know if it worked!

So a dumb CD lens cleaner that relies on traverse by the motor to clean the lens is a harmeless and effective way. By all means o it regularly.

Cotton buds are the next resort if there's cat hairs or something like that to eal with. Then you have to press very carefully because the servo wires that focus the lens shouldn't be stressed.

Hi, I got CD Len Cleaner that comes with cleaning fluid, it is to apply on the brush hair, my question is should I use the fluid or just dry brush cleaning?

Just dry brush. In my experience, fluid leaves a sort of dust although this fluid might not.

But I do it dry with the CD Lens Cleaner.

I use a Bib CD lens cleaner as my PS2 was having trouble reading original DVDs and CDs and froze once on Cricket 2002 (14 runs on that over dammit! It's still haunting me!). Anyway, I cleaned it and it has worked perfectly - No stuttering or freezing since! It's great!
