dvdx or GS?
Can anyone give me some feedback as to if there is a preference for either the GS or dvdx to use with an origa chip. I.e. is one better and for any or what reasons.
ps: Is the AR2 and GS2 exactly the same only that AR2 is for PAL machines and GS2 for NTSC? cheers for anyones info. |

either works exactly the same for swapping with the origa. the region x is cheaper, but the AR2 can also be used for cheating. for just swapping, it makes no difference.
and yes, GS2 is the US name for the AR2 (euro name).

Cheers for that - One last question on the matter, - Seeing as I have never actually seen how one of these boot discs works when using the disk to boot up the game you are trying to play in the GS menu do you have to select from a list the game you are wanting to run?
If that is the case as new games come out you would need to update your version of the GS. To do that would that mean that this disc is also able to run on your PC so that you can add a new patch/update as new games are released and are added to the GS. Or is this some crazy idea I caught from a different conversion altother and the GS simply just does something and you can then play any game new or old without having to select it from some list?

well, those discs are no boot discs. that's just what they can be abused for. the actual purpose is dvd movie watching and game cheating.
there's no list to choose what to boot from or anything.

Yes exactly.....
If you are just going to use the PS2 to just swap games then use the DVDX to save some money If you want to use the PS2 to swap games & use cheats for games then get AR2/GS2
