Question PS2 V4 & Origa

I am looking to buy an origa for my NTSC PS2 V4 with date code 1C.
I was reading the forum at origa.com/newsite and there was a guy saying you can't boot import originals if you have the datecode 1C.

I know this machine is not compatible with the messiah but is there anyone out there who knows for sure or anyone that actually has a V4 1C with an origa who can talk from experience?

info much appreciated,

The v4/1C boots import originals with a single swap.

Anyway, why bother now. US Messiah is due this month (see my post on the subject).

End of story - yes?

This is a little confusing. If the V4/1C with origa can only play import originals with a swap then how does is manage to read a GS - I assume then that it can only read the US GS/AR2 and not any GS (like an origa can do on other Version NTCS PS2s. i.e. read the PAL AR2 and US)

At present I'm making a toss up at either getting your US messiah lite which will cost me more than an Origa + GS (NZ $ is weak to Pound).

Q) The M. Lite chip brochure says no multi-region dvd playback. Does this mean your PS2 will only be able to play US zone 1 dvds without a GS/AR2 added?
While origa in a V4 ntcs 1C is able to play all region with GS/AR2?(apart from ofcourse the PAL movies.)

The Messiah is worth the extra because there none of the 1C hassles. That's my biased view!

Wrt DVD playback, your assumption is correct. To play multi-region movies requires GS2/AR2 v2 or DVD RX. Origa offers nothing over Messiah-Lite for DVD movies. Same procedure.

I get the impression from your last post that alot of people with V4 1Cs have had problems with the origa?
I had always thought that the origa was a very reliable chip or does it seem to be a different story only with these ntsc v4 1Cs, are these some kind of totally different machine to other V4s that can handle the origa fine with little problems.
And that it is just these 1Cs that people have been having trouble with? and what sort of problems? - mainly booting I assume or is there laser issues aswell?
