Do I need a dvdr or just a cd-rom burner to copy ps2 dvd rom backups?

If the PS2 game your trying to backup is in DVD format you will need a DVD writer. Most everyone on the forum uses the Pioneer A03 or A04.

you can also, rip your dvd based games and put them on cd-r, it's fairly easy and cheaper than buying a dvd writer and dvd-r media. Ofcourse, if you can afford it, go for dvd-r =)

but you are also losing movies, often some or all music, and sometimes even entire game modes (i.e. 2 player mode).
