Booting Procedure question

I think my japan ps2 scph3000 is modded with an origachip v2.5 and I try to boot up a backup cdr game using the procedure outline From ORIGACHIP.COM web site (listed below).
I try the bootup procedure many time and when I select a DVD area the tray does not open automatically but instead my ps2 locks up. I have to use different procedure to `swap boot'. When the DVD area screen shows up I have to press the eject button (blue led) to manually open the tray and then swap for a CDR and then I have to press the eject button again to close the tray. Finally I have to press the start button to play the game.
Does this mean the modchip installed wrongly in my ps2 or there are other swap boot procedure that works.
Also when it say `choose a DVD area' press what button on the joy pad ?

Boot procedure for CD-R/DVD-R is dead simple:

1 Put DVD Region X disk into drive and close.
2 Press RESET to boot DVDRX
3 At the Region Area Screen don't worry about the number
4 Press EJECT to bring the tray out
5 Swap in the backup game & press EJECT
6 When the tray has closed press START on the game controller

If the game is correctly backed up it will boot.

Easy.

Thanks Charlie_ps2

What about the procedure of booting original import games?
(DVD and cds).
Sometimes the cdr does boot up but the screen just shows black & white and very unstable. Is it because I am booting a pal game and my ps2 is ntsc. What can I do to make it work or I cannot play a pal game on an ntsc ps2 at all?

ANSWER: On most PS2s with Origa 1.25, it's just boot straight up like a Jap original. If it isn't on the 30000 then it's as per the DVDRX method.

ANSWER: The PAL game will come out the back as a PAL signal. SO your TV is NTSC. Either the AV port is PAL compatible (I doubt it otherwise you wouldn't have the problem) or you can't play an original import without this problem. A PAL to NTSC convertor is expensive as is a new TV. You could play a patched CD backup.
