cdrw

i've got a creative 8438e model cdrw, it worked for a few weeks but then when i updated and tried to use ezcd it quit burning. i've deleted ezcd and kept nero and cdrwin but all 3 programs tell me to insert a blank cd every time i try to burn. i've re installed winaspi and a few other files but nothing helps. i've tried 2 different brands of 80 min cds but after trying about 40 of them i gave up. anyone got any ideas what i need to do besides through the piece of crap away and go buy a new cdrw?
