no.
come back in 3-5 years.
the pc that is powerful enough to emulate ps2 or DC hasn't been developed yet.

I came across what was labeled a ps2 emulator - is that possible? Any idea where the roms could be found or, better yet, how they are made?
Thanks

Apparently there is an emulator out there on the net but it is only able to emulate a very limited set of instructions. I heard it can run some of the small demos/intro's that are written.

what do you mean the pc isnt powerful enough to emulate the PS2.

the pc is about 100 times more powerful than the PS2.

better cpu and better graphics

more memory.

anyway a silicon graphics workstation could as it is like 50 computers in one.

you are forgetting alot of things.

the ps2 is a 300 MHz custom processor. CUSTOM. no way to simply "translate" instructions.

the PS2 is a 128 bit system, while a PC is only 32.

the PS2's hardware consists of mostly undocumented, custom chips.

you usually need a 3-5x more powerful PC to emulate a system. "power" is NOT expressed by mhz/ghz numbers.

Dont forget no os either.

sqwaddy:you must be new to emulation.if todays PC's where powerfull enough to emulate the ps2 why havent we seen an emu yet?,or even a working Dreamcast emu?,or a decent sega Saturn emu?.

the Saturn was less powerfull then the psx yet its 3 times as hard to emulate.you can play psx game at full speed on a 600mhz pc.yet even a 2.2ghz p4 will barely manage 20fps with the latest saturn emu's.

it only runs homebrew demo's.the Ps2 bios is not dumped yet so there's no way it can run commercial games.even if it was dumped its gonna be years before it can run it.

actually it was dumped, otherwise the neo 4 wouldn't exist. all the neo 4 really is is a hacked BIOS.. and a pretty bad hack job too.
