Question Windows CD Backup...

Ok, so this is my question for all you brain's out there...

I install Windows 98se, I install all my drivers, and set my settings and so forth...

I burn a copy of Windows and other misc needed files from the hardrive, so that I have a perfect copy of my Windows and it's settings before installing any after-market software like Word, Excel...ect.

Ok, if I ever had to re-install my hardrive from scratch,
I format the C: drive as usual with system files transfered.

I'd digout the CD copy I made, which would cut down on the time
it takes to install Windows and the nessary Video, sound...ect, drivers.

Can this be done?
And if so, can anyone help me out with this?
I realize this would have to be done in DOS. But am not sure on how to go about it...

THANKS FOR ANYBODYS INFO...

"Newbie",
Dwain

As VLuka said use Norton Ghost which does exactly that (it may be the only program for this too).
Copying the files from your hard disk into a cd, and then copying them back, WONT work.

Thumbs up Thanks and No Thanks...

For the member: Zedy

No where does it say that this board is for "Games Only",
And I am under the "CD Media World Forum",
Sub forum "CD/DVD Software & Utilities"
Not "Game Copy World".

I was just asking, thinking that someone in here might know
A way for me to do the task I asked about.

Was not expecting a reply from a dork like you.

Have great one though, and change that diaper often,
Because it stinks buddy.

To everyone else who suggested Norton Ghost.
I thank you, and I'll give it a try.
Thanks to everyone with a suggestive and positive reply.

Zedy if dtmoody's only got half a brain cell, then u must be blind or something cause if you would bother to scroll up, just a little, an inch, a fraction, you would see dtmoody was right he, is in CD MEDIA WORLD > CD/DVD Software & Utilities. There are other forums avaliable at fileforums.com you know. Off the top of my head there is Game Copy World. CD Media World, Mp3 World and some other World forums. So what if he has made a mistake somewhere, which I dont think he has, he's just asking for a little help. I've noticed you, Zedy, make alot of messed up comments on here. Especially when it comes to people who seem new to this who are only asking for a little help.

Il admit that these forums are mainly about backing up software. But if VLuka, someone whose got more power then PRACTICALLY everyone else on here (delete threads, ban members etc), can reply in a dignified manner and answer the mans query and NOT complain that its got nothing to do with backing up software. Then why could'nt Zedy have done the same?? Or just not replied?? It was more to do with the manner in which Zedy replied that got to me. Ahhhhh Well. To quote the great man Zedy, This thread is now:

OFF TOPIC

HAHAHAAH I just knew he was gonna put up Moderator Required or something along them lines soon enough. I'm sure VLuka would have deleted this thread if he/she saw fit to do so.

well, since this is off topic as it is, i found something really wierd on my foot today. im not sure exactly what it is, but its something. i stopped an old lady on the street and asked her if it was a wart or a boil. it turned out to be a gummy bear.
