During manufacture, the drives are often changed and tweaked so they are given different TLA number to distinguish between them. When the Plex 24X came out, there was #'s, 0000, 0100 and 0101. There were A LOT of rumours going round that only the 0000 could copy SD2 - this of course turned out to be lies.
There are now many different TLA numbers for the Plex - but I don't honestly think it's making a difference.

BTW: To find the TLA you have to look on the drive itself, which involves opening up your comp and fiddling around till you find that tiny sticker.

Another rumour has arrived to plextor users....i didn't verified it but it "seems" that a copy of sfv2.51 protected games is possible READING with cloneCD WHITHOUT any special option activated...i say....read without fast skip errors, reading subchannel data and the other i don't remember...just will try but if any tests it please post results here!
Thanks and good luck!

themis, i think olli left a place so that advanced users can create their own profiles for certain types of cd's, I E you could make a safedisc 2 one, a securom new one, etc......thats what i got from the review @ www.cdfreaks.com

i think that can separate ya from the noobs

Ok..let's see people.....i'm desperated like a lot of people with its plextor are so every rumour that appears must be studied and tried.i have burnt a lot of coaster with this f******* version of safedisc and in all the forum i've been the only thing i learned is that only few people burnt sf v2.51 and up successfully that worked on every cd-r system( i think this is a fake or half-true)
In fact i only have copies that works on my plex only

Still Trying....

Good luck!

Exclamation Plex 24/10/40 Does Do SD2

Hi peeps,

As you can see by my post count, I'm new to posting here, however, I'm NOT new to this site nor to 1:1 burning.

I'm posting this in an effort to help shed some light into this whole Plex and SD 2.51.021+ thing. Trust it will help.

I have several Plextors, including 24/10/40 models, and I can say for a fact that, at least, these Plex's DO make 1:1 copies of SD 2.51.021. At least, all the 24/10/40 Plex units I have DO, all having the same TLA# of 0202. FYI, SD 2.60, i.e. found in Stronghold's latest patch, eats the 1:1 copy no problem, as well.

All my 24/10/40 Plex's with TLA# 0202 and F/W 1.03 WILL do 1:1 copies of SD 2.51.021+ that install and play in OTHER CD-ROM readers, I have tried the 1:1 copies in over half a dozen different readers and they all work fine, some are cheap and old readers, as well as, newer and more expensive.

Example of Tested Readers:
08x Creative
32x Teac
32x Teac (SCSI)
40x iomagic
48x Sony
50x Sony
52x Digital Research
40x Plextor

The 1:1 copies have been achieved withOUT the aid of AWS, BetaBlocker or alike. The 1:1 copies have been done BOTH using a 3rd party reader AND using the Plex to do the reading and writing, as well. Both methods have produced true 1:1 copies.

The titles were tested and confirmed to have SD2 protection using various utils such as Clony, Yaps, etc, as well as, visual inspection of the Disc contents and verified as v2.51.021 with SafeDisc Analyser.

The settings used with CloneCD (v3341) were as follows:

Read: FES, x4, 3 Tries, None (software setting will also work)
Write: x4,
All other settings at DEFAULT.

BTW, I have not tested the new Plex 40/12/40, so I do NOT know if the above is applicable to it, as well. Also, I have NOT tested with the CloneCD 4 betas.

Trust this helps.

That's very strange that you were able to achieve this with CCD 3.3.x.x.

But thanks for the info anyway.
