theory, need feedback

i just need to be sure. i've seen there's a DVD writer out there that is capable of writing DVD-R. since DVD movies are encrypted, it wouldn't be possible to make an exact replica of the original movie. but say i were to rip it to the HDD with DeCSS and then burn it onto the DVD-R. It should work right? without the loss of picure & sound quality and still being able to burn it on a single disc. I find this interesting, but i'm not sure if it works. the way i see it, it should.

Hrm, i dont think it would play in a normal way... the normal players, i would assume, would try to decryt it (i may be wrong). Why couldnt one just make an exact, bit for bit copy (the equiv of a RAW copy for a cd)? Or do you want to be able to play it without a decoder (in which case what you said would, i would think, work)
