LTR-40125S-01Y (Lite-ON)

OK, OK. The above burner is the one that everyone seems to be raving about on here. Its specs on bestbuyuk.com are listed as:

CDRW 40X12X48X SMARTBURN ATAPI RETAIL W/NERO / 1CDR / 1

The above is a direct paste job of all the specs listed and what comes in the box (eg Nero and 1 blank Cdr).
They list the price as £106.40.

I'm here to ask is the above burner really any good (which it sounds like it from the posts) and is it worth the price they are selling it for??

Also are there any specs my computer should meet in order to accomendate this burner??

Cool

Yes, lite-ons are amazing burners. I just received mine and I have yet to encounter any problems with backing up anything, including some of the newer stuff with safedisc2. The best programs to use with lite-on would be cloneCD and clonyXL or XXL. The latest Nero works well, but I prefer cloneCD.

Nero - with a Lite-on?? What a waste. The only times this might be excusable is with Tages and Starforce. LOL

LOL - I do actually have a second CD-writer. But it's an OLD Teac 4X (no burn-proof). I'm keeping it as an antique - or maybe an anTEAC (dear oh dear, that was awful).

BTW: I don't have a Lite-on, I'm a loyal Plexy owner. Hehe

From the replies so far, none have really helped. So I ask again is the Burner worth the asking price or does anyone know where to get cheaper in the UK?

Also what u mean a LiteOn with Nero?? Do LiteOns come with other software in your area or something?? Don't all Burners, brought legit, usually come with either Nero or some Adaptec crap??

It's just a reference to the Lite-on being such a good burner for SD2 that you would rarely need Nero - only Clone CD

Buy it

Re: LTR-40125S-01Y (Lite-ON)

I have the liteon that you mentioned. It is as good or better than anything i have tried. Mading workable backups of games * safedish 2+ is a breeze. Clone cd is great for disk copy but for just plain file copy one normally uses another writing program
and the NEWER cd's may not be supported by the writing software that you presently have. And no telling what comes witht eh store bought drive. Mine came with NO software.
But you will like the way that it performes.
