Exclamation I've read the post, but ummm....

Guys ....i really need some simple instructions. I've read many postings but cant seem to get exactly what i need.

Im trying to back up my originals of C&C Renegade. I have CloneCD (version 3. somethin)- Beta2Sd2_251_English - ClonyXXL_eng - and as i said; my original cd's. I've read everything thing posted in this forum that was related but still cant figure out exactly what to do. I played around with everything listed above but my copies didnt work. Im just glad i copied them to CD_RW's.(hehe) No coasters are a good thing

So could someone plzzzzz! tell me exactly what i need to do so that the backups will work.

Thanx in advance guys

Yea, it's usually only the Westwood (Command & Conquer etc) games that have the setup.exe protected as well.

re: Zedy

Well ....I copied all the files to a temp folder. I then added a folder with the cracked exe. I then burned the entire contents of that folder to disk - and the same with the 2nd disk. Then i installed from disk 1.

When i went into program files to the westwood folder, the cracked exe folder wasnt even there. ...So i thought to myself ."The cracked exe folder would need to be in the "install" folder." ...But then again, it wouldnt even matter cuz i could just replace the "Game.exe" without having to burn it with the other game files. .....Then i thought about replacing the Game.exe in the Game1.cab file, but it didnt come out right. When i replaced the Game exe with the cracked Game exe and then remade the Game1.cab, the final size was 40mb difference. Im not sure why that was because both Game.exe's are about the same size.

So, did i not do what you said?? If not, could you or someone plz give me the Ultra-Newbie version of what to do with these files i copied off the CD.

Thanx

I just copied the contents of the CDs to a temp dir and burned them onto a CD-R using the SAME LABEL (important!!!!!). I didnt include a NoCD Crack. Then i downloaded the patch (v1.015) from www.westwood.com and the NoCD crack (for the same version) from www.gamecopyworld.com, installed the game, applied the patch and copied the cracked game.exe from the archive to the dir i installed the game in.
Hope this helps you.

>>added afterwards:
you still need to insert CD2 to see the videos.

>>added afterwards:
you can also make a dir called movies in your Renegade folder and copy all the .bik files from CD2 to that dir
Ill try that with my copy

Or u could try again by using the latest CloneCD 4 beta that gh0sth@cker has since posted about.
It might work with your writer too.
Follow the link in his thread.

Of course you can. Youd have to use BetaBlocker for Unsafediskv2.51.xx though. But if you have a good burner you dont need that.

Talking

Ok...lets see.....first...
As i know westwood setp.exe are VERY sensitive to CD label mode...in other words.....setup.exe is not only "protected" with sf v xx in general so ISO character mode or ascii are quite important to this "home-protection"If you don't have a clone CD compatible CloneCd cd writer..then the most usual is to pass all the contents to your hd and then burn with same label with nero for example.
But there is a normal way to burn with same label without changing the way we write the CD..i say ISO mode or ascii one....westwood noted it and the makes its setups.exe extremely sensitive...this is like dummies in deltaforce land warrior....."home-protections" that anoys a lot.
Just be carefully when writing and will have success..

In the second part of the problem......what type of ixcomp did you used?If you point me to the way i could help you more.....

Good luck!

TIP: For example will put an example with final fantasy VII ( if i well remember). This game was protected with securom or something like but there was a special way to burn the cd or it will not be playable. You had to write it on ASCII mode and you should write an special identification in one of the different spaces of the nero options.....if you didn't..then copy result in a coaster...

Just try it and learn how...!
