Im thinking of buying a RICOH 5120 DVD+RW/+R writer. Does anyone know if this can back up PS2 games?, I know i need a mod chip, looking at either Neo 4 or messiah, which is better?, anyway not much point worring about modchip unless dvd writer can back up games. the web site for the ricoh if anyone wants to know is

it can't. you need a DVD-R capable recorder for that.
as for the mod, the messiah is better. 23 instead of 44 wires, boots everything without swap while neo 4 only boots cdr without swap.

It is not compatable with dvd-r PS2 backups. Buy a pioneer DVR A03 or the A04
