problems with backup of FFX

hi,

i have a 'backup' of FFX ntsc and a neo4 modchip. however when i load the game, i get about 3 minutes in and the game freezes..it is always in the same place (when tidus talks to auron on the bridge, just after the little guy tells tidus not to cry, if u know the game)

i got a new 'backup' but the game froze in the exact same place? i also have a backup of mgs2 and it works fine.

has anyone else experienced this, or can someone think of a reason why it is doing it? a little help would be much appreciated

thanks

Mike Rice

use verbatim blanks and only burn at 1x speed. my backup (off my original) works fine that way.

On some PS2s (like Jap 15000 with Origa - but that's not the issue - it's the laser) the original FFX did that. We found that cleaning the laser with a cd cleaner made a substantial difference to FFX. It didn't help GTA3 (original), which is a borderline pressing. FFX is in my opinion a borderline pressing. As Arakon has intimated elsewhere, the PS2 has a cheap laser (though when you disassemble one, it's an amazing piece of work) and brderline+borderline produced unwanted results.

ricey, is it the point when he says to tidus "look over there" he looks round and his lips move but it looks like he is saying something but it is silent. the tidus "magicly" jumps behind this other guy.

It happened to me with a SLIVER copy from Hong Kong. After I get a DVDR copy from my friend, it plays fine.

It may because of the bad quality of disc you used to copy your game. Or even worest, you copied your game from a bad copy.

If you are going to spend more money on trying to make a good copy, I would suggest you:

1- Make a copy form a rented orignal copy.
2- Buy the game because it is really good and deserve your money.

You may also try cleaning the len or turning your PS2 upside down while playing to see if it helped (The SLIVER copy I had won't load until I turn my PS2 upside down).
