Backups wont play. What could I be doing wrong?

I've been using CloneCD to make backups for the passed year or so. and they have all ran fine in Virtual Game Station. Now, I just got a GoldFinger Cart to play back ups on my PS, but they will not work. I tried using Cloney and burning some games again, with its settings, but they still do not work.

Is it perhaps the discs I use? I'm not sure how picky the PS is about the media. I'm just using ones from Office Depot. I am also using a Ricoh DVD/CDRW MP9120, if that helps anybody.

Using the Gold finger you first have to boot up with a regular Playstation game or demo disk, then depending on which version you have you either can swap the disk and hit start or you have to go into the cd rom first back out and then swap the disk and hit start.

Yeah, that is what I have been doing. With the little spring in place and all. My backups still wont play.

Edit: About that last part. Do you mean, go into the file browsing util, then back out to the main menu and replace the disc? I'll try that and report back in a bit. Thanks.

Edit 2: I went ahead and tried that above. I did manage to get one of my older burns on a value disc to start the opening movie, skip a bit, then go to the title screen. Actually trying to start and play the game resulted in nothing. In fact, the disc is still just spinning right now as I type. It is not accessing or anything.
So, do you think it may just be the CD-Rs I am using? The burn I just made with Cloney was on an high grade Ricoh disc, and I got no results from that.

Not sure, slower speeds usually work better for PS games, 2x is my usual burn and read speed.

you can try going into the same area and cicking on the .exe file and see if the game will start from there.

I went ahead and tried a new game (KOF99) and tried burning at 2x. I did get the game to load up and I was playing for awhile. There was no music, then I ran into some loading problems. Then I tried a 4x burn (what Cloney recomends), but it would not load past the character select.

It looks like I'm going to just have to try and experiment with some things. I'll have to go down to Frys and see if they have some better discs too, just to see if that is the problem.

Thanks for the help.

I just bought some Verbatim Data Plus discs with the blue bottom, and they are not working at all for me. When I try to load it, the disc just spins a bit and stops. I also get a disc read error when browsing through some of the files.

Do you think it may be my burner, or maybe my Gold Finger just sucks?
