Angry The ever-lasting question for cd-keys

Lets face it: 90% of all new registered users are stupid <full stop>
Why ??? : They are unable/unwilling to see & understand 'No SERIALS'.

What about this idea:

Before a future-user gets to the register-page there should be a a page opened which clearly and unmisunderstandable (right? )
says 'NO ASKING FOR CD KEYS!' (best right in the middle of the screen and in big red letters).

I think this might save Vluka at least some work (deleting posts etc)

PLZ tell me want you think of my idea

Nice idea Eagle, but I think Zedy is right.

These guys offer a free service.
If we were to pay for it, I think people will think twice about breaching the rules.
They will get banned, & lose their money.

But we don't. So people tend to post what they like & to hell with the consequences.
Then sign up with a different name & start trouble again.
Of course, IP addresses are logged so quite often moderators can track the same user & ban them again, but it's a vicious circle.

I think these guys are doing a real good job keeping the board up & running, but at the end of the day, if they are not getting paid for it, then they can only go so far.

U will never stop someone asking for such a request, but u would be foolish to give them the answer they want.
All requests for this type of thing ALWAYS get answered with a "GO AWAY" type attitude.
This is not being rude, but trying to keep illegal activity off the board.
Otherwise it will be shut down.

The Sticky to read the rules etc at top of forum is STUCK there for a reason.
You are told to read & abide by it.
If u don't, then it's goodbye.

It's the same as a job.
If u break the rules, u will be dismissed.

Anyway, I'm getting carried away here so I will stop.

Hope all newbies read this & THE RULES.

Regards,
Einstein

hey im a newb on the board, but ive been using gcw for quite a while now.

now i respect the site and all the hardwork thats gone into it so therefore when im asked to do or not do certain things well, i follow the rules.

keyword: respect
if they aint got it, the new registererer (?) will read the big explicitly clear warning, agree to abide, then post their key request anyway.

btw if you get my beloved gcw closed down.........well i cant even begin imagine how pissed ill be.

Agree.

I remember a person whose nick definitely changed on the old gcw board. It was something like richard cranium.

Zedy probably remembers him, as he had at least 50% of the entries in the ".....the stupid idiot posts" section.

Let's face it. There will always be some guys breaking the rules, there is absolutely nothing you can do about this.

The only way to keep such people away from this site is:

Not answering (i.e. not giving a serial) any of such posts, NOT EVEN BY EMAIL
Deleting such posts as soon as possible and immediate ban

As soon as they find out that won't get any help here, they will stop posting (hopefully!)

You'll never get rid of these people. By the way I'm sure they are successful in their search, because some people will contact them by mail. So VLuka has to be very fast deleting the posts.
I think that won't ever stop. Only way like Monty said is to ban them. I'd say after the 2nd idiot post. Maybe they learn....
But also every day hundreds of new *blind* users enter, so that the *battle will last forever*

Cool

I agree with Eagle. Obviously the warning isn't big enough for them to notice or care. A bigger and more strict warning will help Vluka, but I'm sure there will still be some posts but not as many.

Thumbs down CD Keys

A note of practicality:

1. People who ask for CD keys here, won't get them here.

2. They won't stop asking.

3. They can get a new account here by fudging an email. (Hotmail anyone?)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bottom line, a new harsher warning won't really do much to stop CD key requests.

I am a newbie and I read the sticky as it was the first thing I saw. I myself came here looking for ways to backup my CD's to protect my precious games from my kids . They seem to be able to break the unbreakable. I am loving this site. Thanks all for the brain food
