CD-ROM for Freedom Force?

Hi,
You guys have tried to be helpful so far, and I really appreciate that. So, I'd like some advice.
I've been informed that my problem playing Freedom Force is due to the fact that my CD-ROMs are incompatible with Safedisc.
I guess my question is: will a no-cd crack fix this (if one can be made), or should I get another CD-ROM? And does this problem with Safedisc occur in certain brands of CD-ROMs, or does it go by speed, or is it something altogether different?
Thanks again.

Older drives sometimes have problems reading the Safedisk protection. A NO-CD patch would eliminate the need for the drive so that would work
